Stoke City start as favorites when they welcome relegated Reading in a third round Carling Cup match on Tuesday.

Stoke will be without Michael Tonge and Tom Soares as they are cup-tied. The dupo will probably have to wait until the weekend to make their full debuts for Stoke. However Ricardo Fuller is all set to feature, but it is expected that manager Tony Pulis will field a reserve Stoke side for this game.

Reading progressed to the third round after trashing Luton 5-1 in their second round fixture.
