Manchester City v Liverpool Live

Manchester City will be hoping to shrug off a poor set of results with a convincing win over Liverpool in their Premier League clash on Sunday that could really cement their status as a side challenging for a top four finish this season.

Mark Hughes’ side suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat away to Wigan Athletic in their last match which saw them drop down to 8th in the league table. With Hughes promised more money in the January transfer window, the Manchester City manager will be aware that the new owners will settle for nothing less than a top six finish come the end of the season.

Liverpool meanwhile could find themselves at the top of the league table should they record a second straight win over Manchester City and Chelsea fail to beat Aston Villa on Sunday. Ryan Babel and Fernando Torres are both back to full fitness after giving Liverpool an injury scare in their win against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League while Richard Dunne could miss out for Manchester City.
