Georgia play the Republic of Ireland in their first World Cup qualifier away from home at Mainz in Germany because of the ongoing political conflict there.

Republic manager Giovanni Trapattoni has some injury concerns ahead of this tie with winger Damien Duff out and Kevin Kilbane unsure of his fitness after fracturing his cheekbone in Wigan’s 5-0 win over Hull last weekend.

Stephen Hunt has been called up to replace Duff in the squad despite having made only one competitive start for the Republic.

The Republic will next travel to Montenegro on Wednesday.
