Aston Villa v Litex Lovech Live

Aston Villa will have to guard against complacency when they welcome Bulgarian club Litex Lovech in the second leg of their UEFA Cup first round tie on Thursday.

Villa manager Martin O’Neill will be confident of making it to the next round with his side in a strong position following the 3-1 win away in the first leg. Villa came back from a goal down to equalize on the stroke of half time through Nigel Reo-Coker before Gareth Barry and Stilian Petrov secured the win for Villa with goals in the second half.

Villa’s last appearance in the UEFA Cup was back in 2001-02 season when they were eliminated from the competition after losing to NK Varteks on away goals in the first round. Martin O’Neill will be confident of improving on that result with his side currently at the top of their form and a great start to the season seeing them sit 3rd in the league, just one point behind the league leaders.
