Sunderland face a tough opener against Liverpool this Saturday as manager Roy Keane looks to build on his side’s achievements last season.

The Black Cats have strengthened their team considerably adding Steed Malbranque, Pascal Chimbona and El Hadji Diouf to their squad. Diouf is tipped to a vital cog in Sunderland’s plans for this season.

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has also splashed out the cash during the summer bringing in Robbie Keane from Tottenham. However his move for Gareth Barry appears to have been stunted with the Reds’ owners not willing to hand out the 18 million being asked by Aston Villa.
