England take on France in a friendly on Wednesday in a match that could be the 100th cap for former skipper David Beckham. New England boss Fabio Capello has handed Beckham a lifeline after confirming his match fitness.

will also be relieved that Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney are fit and are currently training with the squad and their injuries are not serious.

Tottenham keeper Paul Robinson is also included in the 23-man England squad following his decent performances of late. Gabriel Agbonlahor, Ashley Young, Shaun Wright-Phillips, David Wheater and Jermain Defoe all failed to make the cut when Capello trimmed the England squad from 30 to 23 players.

France coach Raymond Domenech has named a squad of 39 players to take on England. The squad also includes players for the France “A” team’s clash against Mali.

Nicolas Anelka heads the list of strikers for France. Louis Saha and Florent Malouda are also included.
