The Chelsea captain is suffering from a back injury and is unlikely to take to the field against Kazakhstan after missing training for the second time on Wednesday. Matthew Upson or Joleon Lescott are being considered as replacement for the 27-year old should Terry fail to regain full fitness ahead of the match on Saturday.
Coach Fabio Capello could also partner Frank Lampard with Steven Gerrard in the centre of the midfield with Gareth Barry moving to the left flank following an injury to Joe Cole. Emile Heskey and Wayne Rooney are expected to retain their places up front while Theo Walcott is likely to start ahead of David Beckham and Shaun Wright-Phillips on the right flank.
