What a start to the new La Liga season with the Madrid Derby kicking off at 19.00 hrs.

Real Madrid comes after a questionable preseason test stage with contradictory results. The closest Real Madrid official game to the La Liga kick off was the two leg Super Cup lost against Sevilla. Sevilla won both games and seemed more powerful. Real will start this season with a new coach, Bernd Schuster, who has to confirm after a series of poor results in the friendly games. Real Madrid’s summer signings should help Schuster. Arjen Robben, ex-Chelsea, is the latest player who joined the Santiago Bernabeu side. Other newcomers are Drenthe, Christoph Metzelder, Pepe, Saviola, Dudek, Sneijder, Heinze.

Atletico Madrid will start the 2007-2008 La Liga season without it’s main top goalscorer and superstar Fernando Torres. As you might know Torres is already playing for Liverpool. Athletico has managed to win the Intertoto Cup final a few weeks ago and will play in the Uefa Cup this season. Madrid’s second team will probably hope to find as soon as possible a striker to replace Torres and to obtain the highest possible position in the La Liga table.
