Schalke welcome Barcelona to the Arena AufSchalke for their Champions League quarterfinals well aware that they are the underdogs at this stage.

The German side beat Porto on penalties to progress through after having some second behind Chelsea in the group stage. This is Schalke’s first quarter-final appearance on European stage since the 1958-59 season.

Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard will hope his side can progress through to the semi-finals of the Champions League given that they are facing a relatively inexperienced opponent. However Rijkaard has injury worries in the form of Brazilian playmaker Ronaldinho who is suffering from a leg strain.
